Think GREEN this Christmas...

"...this Christmas, the UK will generate three million extra tonnes of rubbish, buy and discard 75 million Christmas trees and throw away 83 sq km of wrapping paper…"(Bad Santa by Francesca Price, Sunday Star Times Magazine, 10 Dec 2006)

After reading that, I decided I needed to rethink some of my Christmas habits. No more wrapping paper for me. This year I’m going to wrap the presents in scarves and tea towels. On the other hand, maybe the scarves and tea towels could be the presents…

My parents are going one step better. They getting us all ‘gifts that grow’ from Oxfam. A gift of giving without waste. That’s a great way of celebrating Christmas.

As for the Christmas tree, I won’t be putting one up. But if you are, then maybe you should read this article at Mother Earth Living on '5 ways to recycle your Christmas tree'.

are you going to buy your friends carbon zero credits like the article suggests, or simply buy less?
