Okay, so you’ve worked out your writing goals for 2007. You might have even published them on your blog. But is that enough of a challenge? As they say in poker, how about increasing the stakes? Make your query writing goals even more visible by signing up for the 2007 Query Challenge that Kristen King over at Inkthinker is setting up. See you there…

Hi there!
I'm enjoying your blog. The first day of the Query Challenge is my first official day of self-employment, so I had to sign on. I quit my job to devote myself to a freelance copywriting business, as well as trying to write for consumer publications. My big fear and mental roadblock for writing articles is that I don't have any published clips yet. Any suggestions:) I need to focus on the copywriting to hopefully bring in some paying jobs, but I am definitely going to do the query challenge and see what happens.
Hi Julie, first all WOW - quitting your job to freelance - wish I was brave enough to try that. Maybe next year!!!
You say that you don't have any published clips - but I've been reading your blogs and you should showcase many of those posts as your clips.
You write about my two favorite topics - food and travel. If you haven't already done so, I'd be knocking on the door of local newspapers and magazines and offering to write restuarant reviews and 'what's new in food world' type of articles to get some paper clips. Also, try to become a guest blogger at some of the other food blogs.
As for copywriting, I don't know too much about that (plan on looking into it) but I assume with you're going to be targeting the food industry as your clients.
Cheers, Liz
Yay, I signed up!
