Blogging at Alzheimer's Notes...

Yesterday was my first day as a paid blogger. I’m officially signed up and ready to write for Alzheimer’s Notes, a b5Media blog. I’ll be co-blogging with Mary Emma Allen, who has been maintaining the blog for the past couple of years. Mary Emma has first hand knowledge of caring for relatives with Alzheimer’s Disease. I, on the other hand, have only professional knowledge on the subject. So it will be a good fit. I’m looking forward to delving into the confusion that is Alzheimer’s Disease.

Stop by, tell me what you think. Tips and pointers are appreciated. I’m trying to learn how WordPress works - I’m only used to Blogger. I’m going to have to learn how to tag and categorize (something I never quite picked up on yet). But that’s okay, I’m good at learning….this will be fun!!!

You're a brave soul, tackling that rather depressing subject. My Mom, who's been a very active, bright and articulate person well past her 100th birthday is going into a decline and it's a sadness to watch it progress.

Here are a couple of notes you might be interested in:

1. At a film festival this weekend, I saw a feature about alzheimers -- Away from Her. See it when you get a chance. (The ending is a bit sugar-coated.)

2. There is a lady in my town writing a highly detailed blog about living with (as opposed to caring for) her ancient one as she terms her mother. Site here

Hi Liz,
I enjoyed visiting your blog and I welcome you as my co-blogger at Alzheimer's Notes. Between us, we should be able to offer information and encouragement to Alzheimer's families, caregivers, and patients.

Hi Liz, I just guest-lectured yesterday for a college class on magazine writing, and I told the students that there is writing/blogging work out there for every interest.

I specifically mentioned that I'd seen ads for paid bloggers for diabetes and Alzheimer's topics, and now I learn that you've been hired for one of them. Too cool!

hi everyone thanks for leaving your comments..

Granny J - yeah, the topic can be a little depressing. Thanks for the tips. The movie hasn't made NZ yet but has had good reviews...

Hey Steve, keep up the good work. Am going to have to find some time to explore your blogs...

Sheila, that's bizarre....either that or you're reading the same ads I am...

Cheers, Liz

All the best. Fantastic news.

Liz,

I know this is late, but I'm so behind on my blog reading. Congrats! This is turning out to be a great year for you!
