I enjoyed the Q&A with Simon Sellars - thanks for posting!
I'd like to think I could be a guidebook writer, but I'm thinking a) I'd need to do a Colorado (local) book or b) wait to cover exotic countries once my kids are off to college! Just wouldn't want to be on the road for months at a time when they're young (okay, maybe when they get to high school... :-))

glad you found Simon Sellar interview interesting.
sounds like finding a niche in your own local area might be a good start...if you have young kids, how about something like '101 things to do with kids in ..(your hometown). I think we all forget about what surrounds us when we think travel -- but someone who doesn't live here wants to know.
