What is twitter?
Why do we need it?
How does it work?
These are the questions I have about twitter. So if anyone out there can lead me to a resource or two that can explain what it is and how it works in 'very' simple terms, would greatly appreciate it. As usual, technology is puzzling me.
So far, have found this video 'Jack Dorsey Presents Twitter'.

I think this is an excellent explanation - Common Craft is great at this....

I didn't get the value of twitter until i signed on to twitter. and then, i was still kinda confused until i ruthelessly trimmed my 'following' list to (mostly) travel related. now, i really really like it. you should try it.
Like Pam, my "followers" are made up primarily of travel people, and the advantage for me is being able to ask questions and pitch ideas at people.
I use twitter in conjunction with Summerize which is a search engine for Twitter.
I can see who is talking about "me" or should I say the blog, and join in other travel discussions.
The negative side to Twitter is that it's addictive, and I've started to notice a trend of people leaving comments about my blog posts on Twitter, rather than my blog.
Hope this helps
Pam and Darren, sounds like you are both sold on Twitter. It does worry me that it might get a little addictive. I've been looking at the possibility of using it for Healthbolt.net but think I'm going have to take some time to learn more about it first...
thanks for your imput...
sara, I agree that the video was quite useful.
