Building a Travel Blogging Community...

The recent BlogHer conference in San Francisco was the staging ground for a gathering of travel bloggers from around the world (although most were from the USA). The wasn't an actual travel blogging seminar or panel at BlogHer, but a travel bloggers meet up was organized and attended by many, all of whom were interested in creating a 'more tightly-knit travel blogger community'.

But how to create a travel blogger community...

Well, Debbie from Delicious Baby, a travel blog focusing on 'making travel with kids fun' volunteered to put together a list of Women Travel Bloggers. Check it out and find out who's travel blogging where.

Kitchen Gadget Girl, food blogger and consultant at Uptake Travel is creating a page with RSS feeds from all the travel blogging sites that want to participate.

Pam from Nerd's Eye View, who didn't make it to the BlogHer conference, has set up a forum for travel bloggers.

As they say, from a small acorn a mighty tree can grow...

Travel bloggers ... unite.

I've added links to the Woman Travel Bloggers list, the Travel Bloggers Forum, and the Travel Blogger Updates RSS Feed on the sidebar for easy access.

Come and join in.

I'm going to.

Hi Write to travel,
I just found you through blogger, where I have a blog on the Law of Attraction. I also offer spiritual retreats in Sedona, Arizona. I will soon be adding Women's retreat blog which is all about women's travels. I will check out your forum, and connect in with the travel bloggers group.

Congratulations on winning the bloggers of note.

there is such an active travel blogging community on the web...you just need to find it... did you enjoy the conference?

What makes this challenging is that while some of us self-identify as travel writers or travel bloggers first, many other bloggers don't call themselves travel bloggers - even if they sometimes travel & then blog about it. Finding those people is nigh to impossible... I'm excited about these new ways to mingle (virtually, anyway) with my fellow travel bloggers, though!

Hi everyone and thanks for leaving a comment. Nice to meet you all and hope you'll stick around.

Nomadic Matt, wasn't at the conference - just wished I had been as it sounded interesting. And you are right, there are so many travel bloggers out there, but it's not always easy to connect with everyone. That's where a travel blogger forum will be great. Check it out...

jessica, i agree that it will be great to mingle with other travel enthusiasts. at home, when i say i'm a travel blogger, i get a lot of blank stares...

It sounds like BlogHer was a blast. I know all of us TravelingMamas wish we could have been there - next year for sure.

Thanks for sharing all this great information!

Do you know how to contact Kitchen Gadget Girl about the RSS page? (I.e., has she expressed a preference on how to be contacted?) It's late at night here, so it might be me, but I didn't notice an obvious way to submit a travel blog RSS feed.

Thanks again,

Shaula

Hello!
I came across your blog on the 'Top hits' list and so far, I'm really interested. Even though I can't travel as often as I would like to, I live in a scenic area that sees people from all over the world stop by. So if you ever need news from Montana/Yellowstone, drop me a line!
