Out of my comfort zone...

Okay, so I had this great idea for an article. A profile piece. I wrote a great query letter. But first I had to make sure that the person I wanted to profile wanted to be profiled. So I fired off an email requesting an interview. The response was positive. Everything was working out fine. EXCEPT now I have to interview someone. Help! I’m way out of my comfort zone...

Just take a deep breathe and recognize you have gotten this far because you are capable ... and you'll do your research on interviewing techniques and do a great job on that, too!

I was nervous before my first interview as well, and then it went so great I was high with excitement afterward. My advice would be to make sure you get your subject to commit to plenty of time so you're not rushed and have time for simple questions to start out so you'll both feel comfortable. Also- make sure you have a good quality tape recorder and test it beforehand.

Good luck, and have fun!
