Two weeks ago the ‘Tuesday Question’ asked what should a writer take with them to conferences for networking purposes. Everyone indicated that business cards were a must.
Following up on that, this week the Tuesday Question asks:
What do you put on a business card? Do you call yourself a ‘writer’ or ‘freelance writer’? How much information did you add ? Photos? Graphics? What makes a good business card ?

Great question. After much consideration, I put freelance travel writer on my business card. I wanted people to know what I did for a living. But, when I first started, I read articles that said you should and some that said you shouldn't. I think the choice is up to the writer. It has worked out fine for me.
The rest of my card is plain. It's actually one of the free ones offered by Vistaprint.

Carson at contentdonebetter.com has a good post on whether or not to use the term freelancer.
I've been having the same debate with myself over my e-mail signature - still haven't decided but at this point it does say freelance writer.

Since I do copywriting as well as journalism, I was going to just put "writer" but ended up with the job title "Story Listener / Story Teller". It sums up what I spend most of my time doing.
