Seemed like a good idea at the time…

When I decided last week to set up a blog carnival about travel writing, it seemed like a good idea. But even as I wrote in the post announcing the ‘Travel Writers Carnival’, I felt there was a good chance it might just crash and burn….and it did.

I got three submissions to the carnival - one providing me with the website of a travel writer and two offering travel articles. It wasn’t quite what I had in mind. So I’ve decided to put the idea on the backburner for the time being…

On the plus side - I discovered yet another travel writer to be interviewed (in a couple of weeks) for the weekly ‘interview with a travel writer’ series… proving that there is always a silver lining.

That's a shame. I would have been interested in contributing to a carnival *of* travel writing, but not one *about* travel writing. My new blog is definitely aimed at travellers, rather than writers. Still, I'm surprised that you didn't get a better response.

Hi John, it is a shame, but my blog is focusing on the craft of travel writing and I don't want to get too far off the target...have you considered setting up a blog about travel writing articles ???

by the way, whats the URL of your blog...hasn't shown up here and would be interested in checking it out.

Cheers, Liz

Disappointing. It sounded quite good, sorry that it didn't work out. I would have to say three good posts in a carnival are three better than an event with tents folded up and no show.

Perhaps you should get involved in the Gonzo Blog Carnival Series. We might be able to do some good work together.

Cheers!

Hi Kilroy_60, am disappointed to but as only one of the submission had anything to do with the craft of travel writing, I felt that it wasn't right to go ahead with it. I really wasn't looking to set up a carnival that featured travel articles...it would have deviated to far from the concept of this blog...

Still haven't given up on the idea yet.

Cheers, Liz
